Salkehatchie Summer Service meets the needs of others with volunteers. Our entire camp, including adults and camp leadership, operates on a volunteer basis. Most work full-time jobs during the day, come home to families in the evenings, and use vacation time when away from work to serve. We try to return phone calls and emails when time permits, but ask that you allow a few days for us to get back in touch. Thank you!
We rely on monetary donations from churches, businesses, groups, and individuals in the community to help with the cost of building supplies to support our work. Donations can be made at anytime during the year. All monetary donations stay in Newberry County to help our friends and neighbors. If you or someone you know is in need and could benefit from Salkehatchie Summer Service in Newberry County, please contact us at 803-276-0976. If there is no answer, please leave a message with as much information as possible. We will be in touch when we begin compiling our list of homes to evaluate for camp in the upcoming year. We look at many homes and while it is extremely difficult for us to say “no” to anyone, our limited funds, manpower, and skills makes it possible to work on only a few of the homes we look at. Providing information does not guarantee contact or inclusion in the program. We do not have the means to handle urgent or emergent needs. The Newberry camp operates one week out of the summer each year. There are Salkehatchie Summer Service camps held at different times all over South Carolina.
